 COURSE SAFETY

Boating is a sport where you must be able to take basic care of yourself. The water will be very cold. You must wear life-preserver and it is strongly recommended that you wear thermal protection in the form of a dry or wet-suit. Helmets are also strongly suggested and required in some cases.

Along the river in as many places as we can staff, there will be safety personnel (or monitors) from several organizations. Some of these are trained in rescue while others are there for monitoring and communications purposes. However, there are also areas that are unmonitored.

We will track all of you from Race Headquarter. If you were to exit out of the race, you must report this to us, since you will otherwise show on the race course in our computer system.

  • No alcohol allowed prior to or during the race.
  • Bring extra clothes (dry change) since the water is very cold.
  • One Emergency Whistle is required in each boat.
  • Helmet is required for all kayak racers.
  • Personal Flotation Device is required for each participant.
